Home > About OAUG > Councils and Committees

In addition to general membership, the OAUG includes affiliated special interest groups (SIGs) and geographic groups (Geos) and several committees and councils. The OAUG is governed by a board of directors elected from the user community. All members are invited to participate and serve on committees. If you are interested in participating on an OAUG council or committee, please complete the OAUG Volunteer Request Form or contact the OAUG Membership Department at +1 404.240.0897.

Customer Support Council

Under the auspices of the OAUG Board, the OAUG Customer Support Council represents Oracle Applications customers to Oracle Applications Support by:

  • Reviewing and responding to proposals and initiatives of Oracle.
  • Providing feedback as requested by Oracle.
  • Inform Oracle Applications Support of member concerns.
  • Assist members and customers in understanding Oracle Applications Support services by:
    • Presenting sessions at national and regional user group meetings.
    • Polling members on issues relating to support.
    • Suggest best practices for customer internal support organizations.

Education Committee

The objective of the Education Committee is to develop, implement and monitor educational offerings, separate from annual conferences, for OAUG members.

Exhibitor Advisory Council

The Exhibitor Advisory Council (EAC) provides the OAUG’s exhibit management team with feedback and suggestions on OAUG conferences to better the exhibitor and attendee experience at OAUG conferences. The Council comprises experienced OAUG members from exhibiting firms that represent the diversity of the COLLABORATE Exhibitor Showcase model (crossover exhibitors, Star Partners, non-Star Partners, PeopleSoft, Database, Hyperion, etc.).

The council meets twice annually, once at Oracle OpenWorld and once at the annual COLLABORATE conference, and participates on conference calls throughout the conference planning season.

The purpose of the EAC is to provide a communication link between OAUG and its exhibitors, specifically to:

  • Review and comment on current and proposed exhibit regulations.
  • Review and comment on current and proposed practices affecting exhibitors/OAUG Associate Members.
  • Review and comment on floor plan development and layout.
  • Improve exhibitor ROI.
  • Advise ways in which the exposition could be improved, from both the exhibitors' and attendees' viewpoints.
  • Identify additional information useful to exhibitors.
  • Provide a forum for discussion of problems of mutual concern.

The EAC comprises 11 members, with two of the positions seated as Chair and Co-Chair and one as the liaison with the OAUG Board of Directors. Members serve limited tenure to ensure the continuity of programs from year to year and allow other exhibitors to participate in the future. For questions about the EAC please contact Christine Hilgert at chilgert@oaug.com.

Geo/SIG Committee

The Geo/SIG Committee’s objective is to serve the global interests of OAUG-affiliated groups. The committee supports international, national and regional member companies throughout the world, and strives to provide consistent quality services and support to all affiliated groups regardless of their nature or location.

The committee is a vehicle of communication for a major portion of the Oracle Applications user community. As such, the committee works with subcommittee chairs, Geo and SIG coordinators to ensure group participation in providing a forum for the many interests within the user group community.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

SIGs serve as forums to collect and discuss user requirements and interests on specific issues and areas within Oracle Applications. SIGs focus on specific areas of Oracle Applications, working to improve and enhance these areas through group consensus. SIGs represent the interests of the user community as a whole. Contact OAUG for assistance in organizing a new SIG.

Geographic Users Groups (Geos)

There are regional and local users groups in many areas of the world. They generally conduct meetings more frequently than the semiannual OAUG conferences and may include issues of local concern. Like SIGs, Geos work to identify and discuss local interests as they relate to Oracle Applications. Whereas SIGs may focus on certain aspects of Oracle Applications, Geos represent the interests of application users in specific localities. The interest of Geos may span all Oracle Application areas. Contact OAUG for assistance in organizing a new Geo.

Meetings and Conferences Committee

The Meetings and Conferences Committee constructs the conference agenda, reviews papers and proposals for training, and organizes all details surrounding the organization and implementation of OAUG conferences. The committee may include multiple subcommittees which address specific areas of conference responsibilities. Members of the committee change with each conference to provide diversity in conference planning and activities.

Membership Programs Committee

The Membership Programs Committee responds to inquiries from prospective members, provides direction in the performance of membership administrative tasks and enforces membership policy decisions of the Board of Directors. The primary responsibility of the Membership Programs Committee is to represent the best interests of OAUG members and continue to enhance member benefits.

Technology Committee

OAUG Technology Committee Charter (PDF file)

The Technology Committee is responsible for the facilitation of development of technology initiatives received from the various committees of OAUG. Those entities requesting such initiatives are responsible for identifying and/or providing the necessary resources to accomplish such. The Technology Committee shall provide prioritization advice to the Executive Committee regarding OAUG technology projects. The Executive Committee will determine ultimate project prioritization and submit to the Board for final approval.

In addition, committee members will work with Meeting Expectations IT staff from time to time to elaborate user requirement, monitor scope, review implementation, recommend solutions, assist with testing, and monitor the IT budget. Representatives from entities with active projects will participate as required to develop and finalize project requirements. Finally, Committee members are responsible for the ongoing review of the OAUG web site, identifying opportunities to add content, remove outdated articles, and suggest improvements.
