I was looking to see if others out there run into the same problems my company has with using alternate parts on a BOM without creating an ECO to use the other part. Basically the scenario is this. We have a bom to build our product. Sometimes we need to create a variance to use a part for a limited amount of time then go back to using the original on the BOM after that time has expired. We don't want to rev the BOM to this part then Rev the BOM back to the original part but we want all Work Orders to pick up the new part without us having to change it manually. That usually works correctly when you rev a BOM but we don't want to do that. So we are looking to have a solution that allows us to use a temporary part on a bom without revising it but have all new work orders created use this new temporary part. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can chime in with.
