Thanks for the info. We are mapping our registered entities to Operating units in Oracle. When we do this, we are exploring possibilities of having different sequences for Inventory journals created in GL (from Inventory). 
 
Looks like there is no way to map these different categories within a SOB. Has anyone tried customizing this functionality without affecting the drilldown features? Please let me know

Hi Hari,

Why do you need different GL Journal Categories (where source is
Inventory and category is MTL)?

Also, do check out Note 232017.1, which says there'd be problem in drill
down from GL where user-defined Journal Categories are used.
