RFID: From Compliance to ROI

Presented by ClearOrbit
Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Cost: no charge (registration is required)

Interest in RFID and related technologies is at its peak and this pre-conference workshop will focus on how RFID is clearly following the same adoption path that its predecessor (the bar code) followed 30 years ago. Like the bar code, the Department of Defense adopted RFID early, yet today retail giants (Wal-Mart) are fueling the worldwide explosion of use.

But RFID can't be implemented in isolation. It must work with other supply chain execution features, like bar code, label management and print management, and this seminar will examine systems that can be run by business users, not programmers, to set up "rules-based" definitions that manage label and RFID formats. In addition, this session will uncover "next generation" RFID that uses Internet architecture and Web-based management consoles to allow users with Internet access to burn RFID tags across continents or across any geographical distance. Finally, we will explore issues related to letting bar code and RFID co-exist within the supply chain with minimal disruption to your existing Oracle implementation (any version).

This new class of RFID, with its reduced cost, increased read range and read rate, is making RFID truly applicable to core supply chain processes. You won't want to miss this opportunity to explore how to implement and future-proof RFID capabilities for Oracle Applications, without the disruption of your existing configurations or an over-reliance on custom code.
