OAUG News
President’s Corner
2006 OAUG President Patricia Dues
The Oracle Applications Users Group is a global organization comprised of users and partners of the growing family of Oracle Applications. If you are an individual with strong strategic planning skills, interested in expressing the views of a specific geographical region of the world and/or the needs of a specific Oracle Application product, the OAUG Board of Directors (BOD) welcomes you to submit your letter of interest as a potential 2007 BOD candidate.
The OAUG BOD strives to have global and broad product representation so that the users around the world and from across the family of Oracle Applications have their voice heard by Oracle. As an OAUG director, your principal task and area of responsibility will be focusing on the strategic needs of the organization. Identifying new initiatives, providing instruction and direction to the OAUG Leadership Team, and working closely to strengthen the relationships with our sister organizations and with Oracle will be the primary duties.
Board members are also required to serve on one of three committees: Finance, Governance and/or the Executive Committee. This will take approximately five to eight hours per week. In addition, there will be two face-to-face, two-day meetings, which may occur on a weekend, and monthly BOD conference calls to attend. Please be sure you and your employer are prepared to provide this commitment of time.
Serving as an OAUG Board member can be a very interesting and rewarding experience. I’ve been on the OAUG Board for five years and have not only developed some long lasting professional relationships, but have also become friends with some incredible individuals. I am proud of how much the OAUG has accomplished and how well respected our organization is among our peers and with Oracle. If you would like to talk to me about my Board experience, please feel free to contact me at pdues@oaug.com.
Please note that the open call for the OAUG 2007 Board of Directors will be live on Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Additional information regarding the call for candidates, including Board of Director position qualifications, submission process and election process, will be available on the OAUG Web site at that time.

OAUG Enhancement Request System Successfully Completes First Ever Voting Cycle
The OAUG Enhancement Request System (ERS) completed its first ever full voting cycle on July 31, 2006. Users submitted enhancement requests for over 400 Oracle Applications products, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft and Oracle Retail. Ultimately, the system collected over 1,100 submissions for this voting cycle.
Special thanks to those SIGs that participated in evaluating the submissions to ensure they were clear and of high enough quality to be included in the ERS voting engine. The SIG reviewers began threaded discussions with the submitters to ensure that their submissions were completely understood and deleted duplicate requests, resulting in highly qualified data for which OAUG members could vote.
When voting concluded at the end of July, over 6,200 total votes had been cast. Thank you to those OAUG members who took the time to vote! The results are currently being compiled in preparation to being shared with SIG coordinators, specific Oracle representatives and the International Oracle User Council (IOUC). Visit the OAUG Enhancement / Feature Request System information page for updates on voting results. Any formal responses we receive from Oracle regarding individual enhancements will be loaded back into the ERS.
The OAUG is currently evaluating the input received from SIGs and OAUG members regarding the submission, evaluation and voting processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Once this input has been analyzed and feedback has been received from Oracle, the OAUG will work with the SIGs to develop a timeline for the next voting cycle.
If you missed this voting cycle and wish to submit enhancements for the next voting cycle, the ERS is open! Login to the Enhancement Request System to submit your enhancements today!
Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in the OAUG ERS process this year. If you have any questions about the ERS or ideas for improving the process, please let us know by e-mailing us at enhancements@oaug.org.
Users Helping Users: Announcing the OAUG Community Forum
The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) Technology Committee and Board of Directors are pleased to announce the OAUG Community Forum — a new, Web-based discussion forum on the OAUG Web site.
Initially, the OAUG Community Forum will contain two discussion areas: User Topics and Technical Topics. User Topics is the place to post and discuss end-user issues pertaining to the Oracle family of applications, and Technical Topics is for issues surrounding application implementation and administration. If specific topics become especially popular, the OAUG will consider adding sub-topics or additional discussion areas as trends emerge.
The OAUG Community Forum is available to any interested user, but you must have an OAUG profile in order to view posts or add your own posts. If you have ever registered for an OAUG event or been listed as a contact with an OAUG member organization, you already have a profile with the OAUG. Click the “Sign In / Join” link at the top right of any OAUG Community Forum page to sign in to your profile, check to see if your e-mail address is associated with a profile or create a new profile.
If you have any questions regarding the OAUG Community Forum, please e-mail communityforum@oaug.com.
Thank you for your support of and involvement with the OAUG. We look forward to making the OAUG Community Forum a valuable resource for Oracle users helping users.
